There is a heater core bypass pipe that runs from the block (under the manifold) to the bacl of theengine where you will see a flat rectangular "sheet metal" thing with a pipe coming out of it. The a rubber hose connects. You need to pull the top air plenums and intake to get to it. The p[ipe flange bolts to the block with silicone rtv as a sealant.

My freestar engine light is on OBD says PO171 what should be replaced

I believe this can be a bad O2 sensor error. It is a lean reading on bank 1. Also what can happen are intake manifold leaks, and stuck Intake manifold runners on 1 side of the engine. For the Manifold runners, these work like a gating system. Some Intake manifolds have 2 chambers, a low and high flow. When the gating runner sticks in the high flow position, too much air enters the engine on Bank 1 during idle or low rpm.
Manifold leaks. Use a spray water bottle and with the engine running, spray the seams of the manifold. A leak will change rpm or stall the engine.
Hope this helps you.

99 4 runner v6 The engine pulsates at idle and during acceleration ,It goes up and down about 100 RPM and you can feel it under acceleration. what could be the cause?

If this a petrol engine, you have an air leak some where on the intake manifold. Test with soapy water and a paint brush whilst engine is running at idle. check all connections to the manifold and when soapy water gets sucked away, you have identified your leak. Start with the air cleaner and work along system back to the manifold.

Engine suddenly started to miss and weak acceleration

Could be bad gas. Could also be an Intake manifold leak. Use a spray bottle of water and mist the seams of the Intake manifold and any Vacuum lines. Have the engine running and if you can make it miss or stall with the water, you have found the leak.

Some of these engines use a Manifold runner which has a plastic clip under its mount. The clip breaks and the activation rod does not make the Manifold runners move as they should. Check with an Autoparts store like Autozone or Advance for these controlling parts. You will gain insight as to what and where these parts are and if your engine has them.

When these parts break, the breathing of the engine is changed and gives these problems.

It would be on the intake manifold under the inlet water neck (where the upper radiator hose connects to).
