P0316 - Engine Misfire Detected on startup (first 1000 revolutions)

Possible Causes:
- Faulty Crankshaft Position (CKP)
- Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor harness is open or shorted

Replace all 8 spark plugs and ignition coils.

Tring 2 find the firing diagram 4 a 2004 lincoln ls 3.9 v8 the ignition D coil pack needs 2 be replaced on my lincoln not sure witch cyclender is D


There is no cylinder D on an LS

You may have a code for that, but half the
codes you get on a misfire, you disregard


1,2,3,4, Pass

5,6,7,8 Driver

Front to back

Cylinder #4 is a PO 304 ,you can pretend it is D if you like

D on other Ford Products

Not all cylinder codes mean that the coil is bad

You get all sorts of codes & sometimes have to walk a coil
until you get to the bad one.

The lincoln Ls doesn't use coil D,that is another ford product

Codes for COP Ignition Coils---PO301,302,303,304,305,306,307,308
The last # is the cylinder

V8 Cylinders-- 1234 pass side,front to back
5678 driver side

V6- 123
front 456

I assume this has 8 coils,the one you are checking,is it the right one,have you located the exact cylinder miss fire?I believe,if I am not wrong,it has two coils per cylinder,It is showing this on the code.It is the primary coil,coil A ,the secondary coil is not showing up,any way, it is showing that the boot on the coil is leaking,and not sparking the spark plug.Let me know if I can help.

you m ay have to replace the boots that sit on top of the spark plug also make sure they are gap right give these websites atry www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your Lincoln Ls for the most part its something simple wish you the best of luck Michigan Man really nice car take care.

The egnition coils is mis fireing


My car is stalling to start. If I just hold the key, it will eventually catch and go ahead and crank. I've changed the crank sensor. Fuel pump is good. Any other ideas?
