Sounds like you are having problems with the tranny itself.
Acceleration problems can be caused by plugged fuel filter, weak plug wires, bad throttle position sensor. Or not enough air in the intake. I recommend K&N air and fuel filters.

I personally would have an engine diagnostic done for $40 which will pinpoint exact problem location. It sounds like your tranny could be giving you problems, It also is possible that the 02 sensors, or throttle position sensor could be bad. A plugged fuel filter or leaky fuel injector or weak spark at plugs. All these could cause this problem, that is why it is a good idea to have diagnostic test ran.

My Audi A3 2.0 fsi sline Quattro is struggling to find gears ( very stiff to change and impossible to find reverse with the engine running)

First check the fluid level and make sure it is correct. If it's good you will then need to go to the dealership to have the codes pulled. I hope the problem is the fluid because it will be expensive otherwise.

Possible Transmission problem. When gas applied, engine revs but no acceleration. Will accelerate when placed on 2 and L gear. Reverse is fine. Fluid level is full and no visible leaks. Do I need

You might try to get a free scan from Autozone, Oreilys, or Advance autoparts. If their scanners will not show a Code, the more complicated Dealer Scanners may.

Some of the transmissions use shift solenoids. The solenoid for 3rd and 4th gear may be bad. Some use speed sensors which tell the transmission to advance to the higher gears. If you can manually reach 1st and 2nd and reverse, the Torque converter is working and fluid is moving inside the transmission.

I think you can call around to see what other places would charge to put a rebuilt transmission in, if yours can not be fixed.

My 98 GMC Jimmy accelerates really slowly but once past 40km/h it takes off fine and handles dropping gears going up hills fine. What would it be? Would it be my torque converter?

Sounds like theres no 1st gear. Have you put the shifter in 1 and seen if it went, if so try 2-3 if it still accelerates slowly its probally stuck in 1st or 2nd gear, when it goes in to the 3 rd gear it will accelerate normally, also in 4th (OverDrive)

My car will not shift gears or go into reverse. HELP!

So I'm guessing that when you put it in reverse and it won't move. If you put it in 1st it moves but won't shift to 2nd? And it rattles. And since you have a 4.9 in it the transmission is a 4T60E. I am going to guess that you broke the reverse reaction shell in the transmission.

I have a golf gt tdi and lately i am having problems getting it into reverse and first gear. It usually happens when the vehicle has been stood such as overnight

I would check the gearbox oil level. Also try lubricating the linkages. If you have high miles, it maybe the clutch is starting to go out. Do you have a lot of pedal when releasing the clutch?

Tranny stuck in 1st gear until it warms

It is usually the electronics of the transmission. If you don't have any other symptoms, you may be alright. If you are getting slipping in between shifts, delayed engagement when put in reverse or drive, these are signs that the internals are going bad.
