. If you are needing to replace your thermostat, I highly recommend doing it yourself. It is easy to do, and very cheap.
Now to start. It should take about an hour to complete this, but giving yourself plenty of time is the first step. The tools I used are very common, and can be found just about anywhere. i have the diagram below all of this post

Before you start, drain all of your coolant out of the car. This will make your life a lot easier down the road.

Tools used:
3/8" Drive ratchet
3/8" 2" drive extender
3/8" to 1/4" drive reducer
1/4" drive ratchet
10mm socket
8mm socket
Flathead screwdriver (not pictured)

Parts needed: Thermostat
New coolant

look at the picture and you will see the proper way it needs to be installed ok?
I hope that this is very helpful for you
Best regards michael

Changing a thermostat is not very difficult but perhaps you can get some advice from the place where you buy the part or a service facility.

I keep having problems with my waterpump on my 99 ford ranger. I've replaced it twice and Im still having trouble with it

if its over heating its probably the thermostat or if water pump keeps going bad then there is too much tension on the belt.

Replace thermostat on 99 ford ranger with 2.5 engine

The upper radiator hose is connected between the upper radiator and the thermostat housing. Drain the coolant then remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing, replace if necessary. Remove anything blocking access to the two bolts holding the housing to the engine such as the belt cover. Pay attention to the orientation of the thermostat so you install the new one correctly. If the housing is corroded or pitted you have have to replace it or suffer leaks. Push a rag into the engine opening now exposed and clean the contact surface well so it won't leak later. Installation is the reverse of the process.

Engine won't warm up. heater won't blow warm air.

maybe it is missing its thermostat.... this can keep the air in your heater cool in winter
