So what i did was got underneath and grabbed the output shaft and tried to move it around. If it slides in and out then u have to pull tire off remove struts remove out put shaft and find the broken C clamp replace C clamp and washer then put it all back together...I was quoted 2500 to have it done in a shop, I did it my self with a little guidence and it cost me 35$ and 8 hours labor..keep in mind if your output shaft is broken its goin to cost alot more.

Front wheel slip on 4 WD Yukon

The 4x4 actuator in the front differential may be bad. The older heat actuators were notorious for failing, but when the electric actuators came out they got much more reliable. But that doesn't mean they are infallible. Have it checked.

My 1994 gmc 1500 truck will not go in to 4 wheel drive the lever and linkage seem to be working fine. the 4 wheel drive worked fine yesterday and nothing today.

Your problem is the electric actuator . You can search on it, and find the solution.... It could be burned out, or sometimes the connector to it gets loose... try cleaning up the connection first, and try it again... It is on the front axel....

1998 chevy C-1500 brake problems

Try a clean and adjust on the rear shoes, because sometimes when they aren't properly adjusted they won't seem to work properly. Also there is a common "squishy" petal feeling after brake work on most all larger GM's around that year, wich I have run into several times. Try test driving it, and put a couple miles on it, That usualy helps.
Good luck!

1993 Chevy 1500 pickup 4-wheel drive

I replaced the malfunctioning “thermal actuator” with the “Warn” Vacuum actuator setup, it’s been working great for about 7 years now, simple install, if I remember correctly, it was about $150.
That’s what engages the front diff into 4wd.
