Question about 1992 Honda Accord

Does anyone know if automatic shifter cables on 92 honda accords go out? I got under the car and got it into park but the shifter won't go into park

Mine went out on my 93 Accord. I noticed that it became harder and harder to shift to and from park. Turns out that the pin that connects the cable to the lever control fused with the cable end. Fairly easy fix. pull off console, unbolt cable from the shifter, push cable boot out and replace with new cable and lever arm. Might as well order a new pin as well. Good luck
P.S. if the shifter cable is going bad it may be hard to remove the key after shutting off the car. The new cable fixed this problem for me as well.
. google honda part #'s 24412-RAA-000, 24414-PST-010, and 54315-SDA-A83 (lever, pin, and cable)

if you open up the hood and look on top of the transmission you will see a gold colored arm connected to a rod or cable this cable or rod probably came dissconnected or broke just rech in with some channel locks and move it possition by turning the gold rod shaft coming out of the transmission. it might not be gold it might be black depending on how dirty the engine is. if you have some one sit in the car and move the shifter you will see what needs to be moved. hope this helps

Stuck in Park - 2001 Honda Accord 4cyc - Automatic

there is a solenoid on the shifter assembly that allows you to depress the button on the shifter to shift from park. this solenoid is controlled by the brake light switch on your brake pedal arm under the dash. you could have a bad brake light switch, bad wiring, or a bad solenoid on the shifter assembly. if your brake lights work properly, the brake light switch should be okay, and you'd start checking wiring to the solenoid. if the wiring tests good then you should replace the solenoid. you may need to buy the entire shifter assembly as most solenoids are not available seperatly.

Sounds like you need a new shifter cable, they tend to gum up over time.
