Unless you are a professional i would not attempt this repair the entire dash board must be removed including the steering column and the passenger air bag this job will be aprox 10 hours labor at a repair shop usually radiator specialists are less expensive than a regular shop

This isn't for the faint of heart. To replace heater core, the dash has to come out.

You won't like my answer but it sounds like you have a head gasket going away or a cylinder head is cracked. What is happening is that exhaust is getting into the cooling system and eventually pushing the coolant out of the heads. That's why after you bleed it out it's OK till it fills up with exhaust again.

How do replace a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee evaporator? Do I need to take the whole dash apart?

I have read it is quite a job. The heater core in my 97 Grand Cherokee (which is in the same location as the evaporator) is leaking. I think you have to remove the entire dash to get to it.

2000 jeep grand cherokee v8/heater core

Yes it's the heater core, It's a complicated diy job and unless you are an experienced mechanic you are going to need a good workshop manual for the job.

Best of luck.
