Question about 1996 Audi A6

Experts please chime in, defective part or not?

I am wondering if any of you have had any problems with aftermarket timing belt tensioners for the Audi 2.8L 12V engine.

I have had 2 of them separate where they are pressed together, the metal actually was brittle and cracked. They were both purchased through World Pac.

I am just curious if they have a defective product or I just have bad luck.

Thanks

The part is definitely not OEM even though it has the Audi part number stamped in it, I just purchased an OEM one and the metal is 50% thicker. It is manufactured by SKF in Germany.

I guess $80 isn't so bad if it saves an engine.

Worldpac is usually just reboxed OEM parts, which is good. If they are not OEM, I would recommend OEM.

IF YOU BUY PARTS AT A CHEAPER PRICE.MOST OF THE TIME METAL IS WEAK.JUST LIKE YOU BUY CHEAP TOOLS THEY WILL FALL APART WHEN YOU USE THEM ON TOUGH JOBS.WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY AUDI IS A EXPENSIVE VECHICLE.I WOULD PUT AUDI PARTS.BACK IN VECHICLE.ITS GOING TO COST MORE BUT YOU GOT A GOOD PART.PART LIKE TIMING BELT TENSIONER.YOU WANT THE BEST ONE.THATS THE ONE YOUR CAR CALL FOR.BECAUSE A CHEAP ONE BREAKS YOUR ENGINE PISTONS AND VALVES WILL BE DAMAGE.THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY A NEW ENGINE.WHEN YOU DRIVING AUDI VOLKSWAGON OR BMW BUY THEIR PARTS. DONT BUY PARTS ON INTERNET YOU ARE TAKING A CHANCE.

Is there a way to disconnect wire to seat belt chime?

There is a VIO/LT GRN wire that connects the driver seat belt tensioner to the cluster.

2009 silverado 2500hd wt Diesel chime in ceiling does not work for any notifications, seat belt, low fuel, turn signal on, door any clue where to start looking.

The chime system is a class 2 databus. The chime is actually created by the factory radio and plays thru the left front speaker. If the radio is non factory and the appropriate kit was not used ( which has a speaker for the chine) or the front left speaker is blown then you won't have a chime. If you do have a factory radio and the speaker plays the music fine then the problem lies in either the data circuit or the radio. If you have an aftermarket radio and the correct wiring kit was used then either there is a bad connection, blown chime speaker or defective kit.

Where is chime module located on 2005 ford taurus

There is no chime module ,there is a speaker inside the instrument cluster.
Door Ajar Chime
The door ajar chime feature is controlled by the smart junction box (SJB). The driver and passenger door ajar switches, and the liftgate are hardwired to the SJB. If any door or liftgate is sensed as being open, and the ignition switch is in RUN/START position, the SJB will process the input and sends a chime request to the instrument cluster over the controller area network (CAN).
Safety Belt Warning Chime
The safety belt chime feature is controlled by the restraints control module (RCM). The driver safety belt switch is hardwired to the RCM. The RCM communicates with the instrument cluster over a hardwire connection. If at any time during the first 6 seconds after the ignition switch is placed in RUN the driver safety belt is sensed as being unfastened, the RCM will process the input, and in turn, sends a chime request to the instrument cluster.

Lexus sc430 had code for bank 1 timing had belt replaced now has codes for both banks repair shop said it was from having brought them aftermarket belt said ok for them to use factory belt still runs

They didn't get the timing correct. One tooth off will pop a code. Causes rough running. In my case the tensioner didn't put enough tension on the belt. I had to take it back apart and pry on the tensioner to get the pressure up, then lock it down.. Got rid of the codes(both sides).

How stop the serpentine belt from fallen off the tensioner on a 1993 town & country. Is there a aftermarket pulley wheel for that tensioner to replace the flaw problems.

My 1991 Grand Caravan did that too. It had the 3.3L engine just the the T&C (91-93). The tensioner was the problem, hit a puddle on the right side and you'd feel the power steering go and then right away the engine would start to heat up. I tried making the belt come off, but could never duplicate it, only splashing through puddles of rain or wet slush would do it. I never found a tensioner with shoulders on it, but a new one like the original fixed it.

What are the parts needs to be replaced after 100k miles for 2004 suzuki forenza

A little more clarification would be nice, meaning, have you ever serviced the car other than oil changes? Bare minimum, do the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, the two timing belt idler pulleys, water pump, and spark plugs. VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: there are two designs for the water pump. Aftermarket water pumps will be a LOT cheaper, however, are the old design the majority of the time. Problem with the old design is the timing belt rides a bit on one edge of the pulley (not visibly noticeable) and you run the risk of the pulley on the water pump breaking after so many miles which will cause your timing to become out of synch, which results in internal engine damage (either a head job needing to be done or a new engine). A Suzuki dealer will have the undated design of the water pump, however, it is pricey ($302 plus tax).

With that being said, to tell if an aftermarket water pump is the correct design, look at the pulley and if the outer edge of the pulley is thinner than the inner edge, then you have the updated design. Usually aftermarket brands GMB and Gates will be correct.

If this helps, please indicate so! Thanks! :-)

My 03 cadiallic cts has 98,000 miles i was wondering, when is it time to change the timiming belt, and spark plugs

Cadillac recommends it be replaced at 100,000 miles.
You should also consider changing the tensioner (1) and idlers (2) at the same time. A kit is available from the dealer and various aftermarket sources that contains all the parts.
I hope this answers your question.
