No tricks, nothing unusual, its just nuts and bolts to be loosened, tightened. Some may be hard to get at and you may be better off at a shop.

Go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual. It has your car in it with step by step directions on how to remove and install the belts. Also has all the diagrams you could need. A little too much info to paste here. You can do it!

Does anyone know Honda's requirement for timing belt replacement on 2005 honda civic lx. I've seen varying comments on line, would like to know Honda's requirement.1.7L Thanks for any help or suggestions....

From the Owner's Manual: replace the timing belt @ "110k miles or 7 years whichever comes first". We have 73k on our Ex and have had no problems with the automatic ... in fact it is the smoothest shifting auto that I've ever driven. I did a fluid change (incomplete ... u can't drain the entire transaxle) at 60k which is the recommended interval for "severe" service.

When to change timing belt on 2004 honda civic

Honda reccomends timing belt change at 100k. Most Honda dealers like you to change the belt at 90,000 miles (90k). some auto repair places will want to change the belt at 60k but that is not necessary (Note: if in a severe cold or hot climate like florida or canada you would change the belt before 90k or if the belt is over 7 years old.. Good luck:

Timing chain maintenance

It's actaully a timing belt, not a chain. But the mileage recommendation i believe is 60,000 or 90,000 miles.

2003 Honda Civic -LX Timing belt

90000 Miles on the Timing Belt. Do not let this go! A timing belt failure can cause internal engine problems.

Should cost around 200 or so, depending upon your local labor rates.

Good Luck!
