Yes, no problem. Your trans is not dropping out of overdrive until you shut it off. Computer just naturally puts it back in at speed. The control for that is a second connector on your brake light switch, if the brake lights aren't working, switch is bad or needs adjusted closer to the brake pedal lever. This switch takes power off the trans and out of overdrive. Fix that before you burn up your trans friend. When the overdrive goes out completely, trans will go into limp home mode and you'll only get up to 3rd gear and won't shift any higher.
Clogged fuel injectors maybe, there is a fluid for that. Could also be the overdrive gear in the trans. The overdrive gear is not hardened like the rest of the gears and can be faulty
Its the overdrive sensor 3rd gear you will slip with 4speed band trans This overdrive gear setting if your sensor is not kicking in then you are due for trans maintenance as 3rd gear is shredding slowly away learned this from dirt track quarter mile super stock racing pray that your gear is intact as a trans shop with micro snake cam can only determine the length of time you have on your gears and trans inspections are free threw amco certified shops
I would check into the Trans oil temp sensor, they are known to keep the trans from shifting into 4th gear if they have a open or a shorted circuit...This may also be the culprit for the other issues you are experiencing when the trans is at diff temps and doing diff things....The other thing that is known for going bad in that Transaxle is the Sunshell...The splines on the inside of the sunshell strip out and than you will lose pretty much all forward gears,Except for 1st gear most likely and you will also lose Reverse if the Sunshell goes bad...But this will not act any different if the temperature is cold or hot
Hi, the trans in this year, has a 4 wire connector that is for overdrive only, the loss of gears is probably a mechanical issue internal to the trans, and an overhaul is probably in order. I would take it to a local trans shop, as diag is usually free. This will give you a better Idea. Good luck...
thottle positioning sensor? if trans has overdrive could be a lock up piece, dont remember name of it. there is a lucas oil product that might help. if it is the overdrive.
this seems like a problem of a loose belt inside your trans. if it hits overdrive and slips into nuetral till you lower the rpms then yea its a problem inside the trans.
the problem is caused by the "end clutch" this is the 4th gear or over drive gear of the auto trans, it is mounted in an alloy cover on the chassis rail side of the trans, will requre removal of this cover and new clutch packs fitted, until then just drive the car with OD off, any trans shop can replace this for ya, fairly easy,
