Question about 1996 Ford Windstar
1996 Ford Windstar. The driver door switch is broken and the car thinks the door is always open, causing the door chime to sound constantly, and the dome light goes on. I would like to locate the switch and simply jump it out, but I can't find the switch. Where is the switch? Or what are the wire colors? Will jumping the switch fool the car into thinking the door is closed? Is the switch expensive?
The switch is in the door latch assembly. . When the latch is tripped the chime will go off unless the switch is broken. You will need to remove the door panal and unplg the connector. This alone may shut off the chime and lights. Or you can pull fuses one at a time until the chime goes off. With the fuse out you may loose another function so test things you use to be sure removing the fuse isnt going to affect something needed.
