This is true. We have let engine sit over night and tested it again and yes, barely nothing registers on the dip stick. The scary part is that the oil light never comes on.

Yes, we are scrathing our heads. Called toyota regarding the problem. they have no answers. I have a girlfriend who had the same problem. Unfortunely because her oil light never went oil she seized her engine. I have take my car to the mechanic at this point and they told me that my rings are shot and eventually cylinders are gonna seize...again, we are scratching our heads. I am the only owner. bought the car brand new and have serviced it every 3k.

I was told by someone else that they bought a new engine for their 2004 and had the same problem with their new engine.

    Any thoughts on a 2003 Jeep Liberty...Looking to buy a replacement car...or a 2000 Toyota 4runner..

3 quarts a month, is excessive for a 100k Toyota, are you sure you are reading the dipstick correctly??? on a level surface motor off and give it time to drain back into pan? pulling it out wiping it off and reinserting then checking?? as my sister has this same car 30k more miles and an erratic service history and it use's a half a qt every 5k mile oil change

Start by checking the pcv system, it may be pulling oil out of the crankcase, nest check the valve guides, if all seems good do a cylinder leak down test, you may have an internal problem

2006 Toyota Corolla le - maintenance light on front panel - engine serviced with oil and air filter changed two months ago. All liquids fine, car working well...what might it be??

  • That light is an indicator that the required miles have been drove and it's time to do an oil change. The light should be reset after every oil change as the computer keeps track of the miles to warn you when it's time again should you forget.

  • If you want to turn the light off then follow these steps.

  • Push and hold the trip button and then turn the ignition to on while holding the trip reset button. Keep holding for 10 seconds and the maintenance required light will go offf.

Where is starter located on a 2004 toyota corolla le?

The starter should be located on the front of the engine. It is underneath the exhaust manifold and you will probably have to access it from the bottom.. Hope this helps, Good Luck!

Engine knock

The idle issue is normal. The idle is controlled by the ECU. There are no adjustments for the idle. Regarding the knocking noise, that could be several things, and I am hesitant to comment without hearing it. Take it to a Toyota Dealer & have a tech listen to it. We are very good at identifying noises on the service drive.
