Question about 1995 Ford F150 Styleside Regular Cab

Vibration at certain speeds

I have a Ford 1995 Ford F150 4x4 with 5.8L and E4OD trans. My problem is a vibration occurs at approx. 60,80 and 100 kph.I have changed all wheel brgs.drive shaft, transfer box, rear end overhauled--so think it must be in the transmission. The vibration happens on a hoist without wheels and when rolling out of drive.Could this be a constant running brg. in the trans. and if so which could be the culprit or culprits.Hope you can point me in the right direction.Thnakyou.

It could be as simple as a bad transmission mount. The bearings in an automatic transmission are not a roller bearing, they're all bushing type bearings without any rollers. The fluid in the transmission keeps them lubricated so they don't need moving parts. I would doubt that it's in the transmission if all the gears work smoothly. The only bearings like what you're asking for are the needle bearings in the planetary gears. If one of them were going I'm not sure you'd feel it while driving, especially at slow speeds like leaving the driveway.

I can point you to a website that has a part by part breakdown of your transmission if you like, but the pdf can take a while to download on a slow connection.

sounds like u have an e4od trans with a torque converter that is slipping when it try's to lock in. if you can live with it drive it if not have a new or rebuilt torque converter put in with a new seal. fords e4od trans have had all updates and modifications as of 1995. mine has been shifting ruff for the last 4 years. I will drive mine until it quits if it does.

1995 ford f150 truck 302motor what trannsmission did ford install

Hi There,

It should be either a 4R70w or E4OD, check the trans code on the drivers door decal and compare it to this list.

Transmission codes from 1995 Manual M = manual 5 speed overdrive (Mazda?) E = Automatic E40D G = C6 auto U = 4R70W (4spd auto with overdrive) C = manual 5 speed close ratio (Z-F) W = 5 speed H.D. Overdrive Transmission codes start with "TR" then are followed by one of the letters above.

Your shuuder sounds like it m,ight be coming from a CV joint losing it's grease or going out of balance. Take it to a front end shop for diagnosis. It's free.

1995 ,and changing gearboxes ,is it honestly worth it ,this vehicle is 15yrs old and not worth more that 500 euros in its present condition ,their are two of these gas consuming monsters here in a local car dealer and i expect he would pay you to remove them ,anyway if you do change it then i doubt if you need to change the torque converter ,but you will have to remove it with the box so you can locate it in the new one prior to fitting ,their is a dog clutch shape that has to align for the front pump drive .Best advice is to renew the vehicle with a diesel coupled to a manual gearbox

During highway driving, my 2005 Ford Excursion Diesel seems to vibrate intermittently @ 2000 RPMs and speeds between 62 - 75 MPH. I can accelerate through the vibration or keep RPMs below 2000 to...

I would first check the u-joints on the driveshaft if the problem only happens when the speed is between 62-75mph. Then check all the tires for lumps or bulgesin the sidewall or tread surface. The tires may also be out of balance and bouncing at that speed. If the vibration occurs only when the engine is around 2000rpm, check the pulleys, serpentine belt and anything driven by it for looseness. Also, check the trans mount to see if it is loose or broken. If everything checks out ok, have the OBD codes checked to see if anything might be causing the engine to surge.
