Hi:
If you are talking about a professional at a shop, it usually takes about 2 days, if things go well.

About a 1/2 day to remove the old engine, another 1/2 to clean up and move parts to the new short block, and the better part of a second day to install it back in the car and hook everything back up.

Will a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee engine fit my 2004 jeep grand Cherokee

you never said what engine, is there. nor country.
of the many. size , and gas and diesel too.
is car in usa? they sell this all over planet earth, and with a wide choice of engines.
so..... zero facts there.
are you talking just a short block or long block only.
long is block and head only. no manifolds or anything else
no reasons stated, (threw a rod?)
if you go shopping for engines, both places answer this using
there data base, hollanders.
the dealer knows, for sure
the wrecking yards know for sure
and all engine re-builders here know. ask them?
if you buy and engine on craigs list, "they don;t know"

What year 4.0L motor is interchangeable with the 1999 4.0 in The Grand Cherokee Laredo

Most salvage yards should have interchange info for that. It depends on if you are getting a short block or the entire engine.

Coolant isn't circulating in the engine of a Jeep 2002 Grand Cherokee V8. Radiator was just replaced as well as the water pump and thermostat.

Hi Jonny, While the engine is cold the thermostat will be closed, allowing coolant circulation around the engine block and cylinder head but not through the radiator. Only when the engine has reached normal operating temperature will circulation be noted in the radiator. A good test is to remove the thermostat while the engine is cold , start the engine with the radiator pressure cap removed and observe flow. If as I suspect it is there, refit the thermostat and check the heat gauge. If all remains well there is no problem. If the engine overheats replace another thermostat. If there is no circulation with the thermostat removed, there is a blockage in the cooling galleries of the engine. If chemical flushing does not clear it, it will require disassembly of the engine with careful step by step inspection at every stage. If the cylinder head(s) had been removed I would suggest making sure of the galleries not being blocked by installing the gaskets incorrectly. Regards John

first place wheel chocks around tires to keeps car from rolling .place parking brake on then take the two top front engine mounts loose and then place car in neutral.remove alternator, then carefully roll engine toward front of car. you can place a small wood block between engine and firewall to help hold engine forward. please be careful choosing where to place the wood block dont put it on anything breakable. then remove sparkplug boots one at a time replace plugs then reverse steps .

I have a 1993 jeep grand Cherokee. It overheated and wen I put water in it, it flushes straight out real fast near the transmission. Wen I looked at it, it looks like the engine block is cracked. How can I...

Cracked block? Eh... You can try to have it welded but thats not a promising fix. I think you may have signed your jeeps death certificate. On the bright side you can pick up a used motor from a salvage for around $450. Try welding it. Its worked for me before.

1. My grand prix gtp has problems with leaking on the passenger side. I cannot locate the leak. 2. My engine runs too hot when ideling. I changed the thermostat but this did not help. I need your assi

Make sure your cooling fans are coming on when the temp heats up. Are you talking about a leak inside the car or outside? Inside is usaully a drain tube for the A/C stopped up. Outside, look for a water pump or intake gasket.

I had a new water pump installed on my 2005 jeep grand cherokee laredo as it was leaking. After the installation, the temperature gage is still running hot. Could it be the thermostat?

Thought I answered this one already. but here's the short version. Yes , change the t stat after servicing wp. They become unreliable after any high temps (above normal). Check the electric fan, and the mechanical fan to make sure both are working properly. If all else fails. remove radiator and back flush. often overheat or high temps can loosen block rust and obstruct part of the radiator core.
When re-filling, turn heater on high to eliminate air pockets in system.
Good luck with it
If you need more info, just ask!
