Question about 1994 Honda Accord

3 Answers

My 1994 Honda Accord has been leaking about a quart of oil every two weeks. I had the oil pan replaced and it is still leaking. Last week, I replaced the spark plugs and three of the wire holes on top of the spark plugs were the spark plug wires connect were full of oil. What should I replace now?

Your need a valve cover gasket set. It comes with 4 rubber seals for the spark plug tower so oil does not leak on the plugs. Common problem, Simple to fix. Takes about an hour

A few drops? that would not account for the oil used, u wiould have tons of oil in the pan. you have either defective piston rings or a plugged crankcase ventalation system.

My Honda Accord Ex 1996 Model automatic transmission is experiencing shortage of engine oil 4 weeks after servicing or changing the oil

How low was it?

Have you seen any leaks on the ground?

Here is what I would do. Fill up the oil so it reads full on the dipstick. Drive it for a couple of days and then check the oil level. If its down a half a quart or more than you have a serious issue and more than likely an external leak. If it is leaking that ba than it should be fairly obvious where the leak is coming from and a visual inspection under the hood and under the car should reveal the source of the leak.

Sounds like the rear main oil seal on your motor is leaking. In order for it to be replaced, the transmission has to be removed. Not an easy task for the backyard mechanic.

There are alot of places where oil leaks out. The most common places on this engine are the front and rear crankshaft seals valve cover gaskets and yes, the oil pan.

A compression test would be the next best thing because if you are sure that it is engine oil in your antifreeze then it could be a head gasket, but it you don't get a bad reading from the compression test then it might be a intake gasket

250,000 miles is a lot, although for a properly maintained Honda it could probably go many more. With any high mileage car purchase, you always run the risk of something happening, major or minor. I would ask the recent history...what has been fixed or replaced in the last 50,000 miles? Also, with any oil leak, there's the chance that it is making a bigger leak, although with a engine with this many miles, thats not uncommon. I would just monitor the oil levels carefully. You don't want the engine to seize.
One last thing, check out www.carsurvey.org. You can look up any make and model and see what real people who own the same car think and what problems they have had.
Good luck in your decision!
