Question about 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

My driver side rear taillight light does not work when the head lights are on but works when the brakes are depressed. I have already cleaned the contact points and replaced the bulb with no luck. Thanks.

Check,by that i mean loosen remove clean/scrape ,the ground wire going to that tail light assembly . you should find it on the frame near wire harness plugs.

2000 pontiac montana Brake light and Trac off stay on

No.
The brake warning light could be telling you there is a problem with the hydraulic brake system or the parking brake.
The trac off light is saying there is a problem with the brakes or engine and the traction control system is disabled.

1998 honda accord, with the headlights on the tail lights are on but turn signals do not work. if head lights are off turn signals work unless i apply the brake, if i apply the brake the brake lights work...

It sounds as if you have a bad earth to either one or both of your rear light clusters. If it only happens when you indicate in one direction then that is the offending side.

All four rear light bulbs are working but the brake lights don't come on when the pedal is depressed. The upper center brake light works but not the ones on the sides.

If the upper center works then the switch at the brake pedal is working properly. Maybe only two of the taillights are equipped with dual filament bulbs. If this is the case ( and it usually is) then you have two burnt out brake bulbs. They are dual filament and only one is lit (the lower intensity one) when the lights are on. Then the higher intensity filament lights when you hit the brakes. Open your trunk and take one out and look at it. Sometimes you can see the filament just hanging in there unconnected to one of the two posts. That means it is burnt out.

I have a 1989 Buick Park avenue. A month ago all of the back lights stopped working. Tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights.

Check your fuses underneath the drivers side steering wheel. Flip the plastic cover over and there will be a diagram showing the fuse that controls the taillights/stoplamp. Pull the fuse out and replace it with the same number fuse and your taillights and brake lights will work again. If the fuses are ok, pull each taillight bulb out and replace it with a new bulb. Sometimes when one light bulb fails, all of them will fail.

Rear brake light when depressed (hedlights on) brake lights go off . when brake depressed ( head lites off ) one lite works one doesn,t

First off, the brake light circuit is fuse 13 in PDC to brake swicth to rear brake bulbs, there is no physical connection to head lighrts in that circuit. all headlight functions are done by hard wire to the BCM,(body controll module), its locatted behind and attached the JB, (junction block) at the left side of dash, I've seen moisture problems cause alot of problems in these 2 modules, Its alot of work to remove these modules, dash componets need to be removed first,More info on this problem would help. GOOD LUCK, RDJRP

Wires burned no brake lights and one taillight doesnt work

Yes , The wiring in question does effect the brake lights because they all run on the same circuit.
I would repiar or repalce all the wiring and then replace the brake light switch. The switch could have shorted out from the fire.
