Question about 2001 BMW Z3

1 Answer

At idle and occasionally when driving the engine lurches. I must keep my foot on the brake for fear of lurching into the car in front of me at a stoplight.

Check your idle control valve if it idles weirdly and switches off. Maybe it just needs a good clean.

Why does my car lurch forward at a stop

Not sure what you mean. When you take you foot off the brake it should move forward slowly. But if it jumps could be an idle problem or a trans problem.

Why does my 2000 vw passat v6 lurch when I take my foot off the accelerator and coast?

Hi. Please get the engine and gearbox mounts checked. This can cause a lurch type feel when they have excessive movement in them.

2004 Camry lurches forward when stopping.

Sounds like the torque converter isn't unlocking quick enough. Drive at 45mph,keep foot on gas and use other foot to touch the brake and watch the tach to see if it speeds up,when converter releases. Check trans fluid level hot.If it is more than a couple years old, change. Use the correct fluid for Toyota and add a bottle of Lubgard. Have the throttle positon senor scanned and check any idle control circuits. Throttle Body may need cleaning.

Lurching

OK, I know this will sound Dumb But, Try it, It should work. It sounds like the Seal on your Gas cap is Allowing a Small amount of Air to Seap into the Fuel tank. Get a New Gas Cap and see if it does not Remedy this Situation.

You could try disconnecting the air valve and see what happens. The car may stall when idling if you turn on the air, just set it to idle high and leave the air on all the time :)
Keep me updated man

Jetta v6 lurching and almost stalling

When something in the car's faulty and a sensor picks it up and tells the computer, the computer will cause the car to do exactly that. Could be anything, from a damaged air intake sensor to the breaks.

Have your car connected to a computer and let the computer do the talking for you.
