Question about 1992 Lexus Es 300

Rpm goes up and the speedometer doesnt move and it putts down the street till it catches..doesnt do it all the time...a auto guy told me it was the ignition module and the ignition coil, and he said it keeps burning out, now he said it could be the mass flow something..what does it seem like to you..he said the transmission was checked and its not the transmission

Unless you are getting a false rpm reading, then your transmission is indeed slipping. Does the engine speed up in conjunction with the tachometer? If the answer is yes, you do have a slipping tranny. Good Luck, I hope this helps.

Whats wrong with Helen?

The speed sensor might be bad. I used to own a 99 Mitsubishi Eclipse with the same symptons. The car will start, but will not pass the 1st or 2nd gear, the speedometer will be at 0. I replaced the speed sensor and all the problems went away.

03 chevy cavalier the gas rpm and speedometer all stopped working, as well as my radio coming on and off

I had a cluster go bad in my 05 cavalier. same thing happened but I had a guy come out to my house and change the motors in the cluster for $100. I gave him an extra $20 on top of that but he did a great job and no problems ever since.

Engine wont catch

cranks fast
starts every time.
idles fine hot or cold , or both? hot idle not too fast.
i race engine , in park and neutral, I can hit 3500 rpm easy, can you.
i release brakes, (brakes are not packed in ICE , are they?)
I select 1gear or reverse (A/T or m/t)
the car moves or dont move, which is it, my guess catch = no move at all.
I try to drive, i look at RPM and MPH
RPM moves up and MPH track.
track means they both move in a linear progression.
RPM rises and for all RPM increases MPH also increases.
does it?
if all that works then we have an engine power issue.
weak on hills?

you have a connection problem going to your intrument cluster unless your real handy working on auto`s better take it to a mechnic

Speedometer on '92 300zx doesn't move at all when I drive.

well i am going to tell you that your problem is an easy fix and shouldn't be expensive at all. what it most likely is is that your speedometer cable has a medal rod that goes into your transmission and in most cases it will wear down to where it gets loose and will freely spin and in some cases it will catch but it is most likely the speedometer cable

Transmission doesnt shift abs & brake light on speedometer doesnt work

I had the same problem with ABS light and speedometer, I was told that it is the transmission control module. It has not yet stopped shifting but I have had times where it just wont stay running. It will start and then stall. Hope this helps.

Engine missing but no check engine light on

when mine did that it was the coil pack... if you are brave and have some heavy duty rubber gloves... start the motor and pull one lead at a time from the coil pack... any change in the motor... if not plug it back in and move to the next wire. if you unplug a wire and notice no change it's likely you have found your problem.

As a side note when you replace the coil pack it goes 1.2.3 but when you do the next side it's 4.6.5. (engineering humour i think)

2000 Eclipse GT auto trans. Car stalls at stop lights. will run fine in all gears. R, N,. When gas is aplied car will run fine untill it shifts to first and the rpm goes to idle. The car will jump between...

thats one of two things i had the same problem with my 94 honda civic and my 00 mitsubishi eclipse both were not cheep to fix saddly for you man on my civic my tranny was catching and it would stall the motor out idk if that was the complete problem because i sold the car the same day i found out and i do not talk to the guy i sold it too but i seen it running fine a week or so later and on my eclipse it was my ecu for some reason there was a defect or some wires touching or something like that they replaced all my wires and my ecu and it ran fine till i sold it for my 2007 mitsubishi eclipse and gladdly i have not had any problems scince i bought the car

I had the head gaskets replaced.. the spark plugs replaced... had it at my mechanics for 6 months.... never did figure out why it was putt putting.... most people i have spoken with their mechanics have told them to put a piece of black tape over the light.... unfortunatly a couple of years of ignoring the light is when it just gets worse... like i said... best to just either sell the problem to someone else or change out the motor....
