There's the A/C condenser in front of the radiator that may be leaking the oil in the A/C system which is clear. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know you got your car running 100% again soon and be glad to answer any more questions you may have.

Leak at radiator coupling.

Try to tighten coupling if can't tighten probably should replace radiator. The tape would only be a temporary fix if it even worked and soldering won't work either

Smell of coolant and smoking

smoke from exhaust could be cracked head or blown head gasket but normally when one of these two things happen it runs crappy if it runs at all smoke from under the hood you may have a pin hole in your radiator or hose or even heater core put some stop leak in it watch for puddle of anti-freeze under the hood and on the ground keep a close eye on your tempature gage and a close eye on you anti-freeze levels and dont add fluid when the motor is hot this will crack your heads good luck.

My coolint is evaperating, and i have to add every day

you must have a leak somewhere. Your coolant will not boil unless you have a leak. Check for leak traces of fluid the color of your anti-freeze. Your radiator cap is spring loaded and with time the spring gets weak.
Check that area for leak traces. The easiest way to check for leaks is to look at your driveway. if you have a coolant leak the fluid traces will be on the driveway. Don't mistake your air conditioner water leak as being the coolant fluid. The anti-freeze coolant has a sweet smell whereas the air conditioner fluid is just plain water being removed from the air inside of your cab.

My 2001 mercury sable is loosing anti-freeze, I do not see any signs of it leaking but when I am sitting idle at a stop light steam appears to come from under the passenger side of the engine compartment....

You have a small leak, probably in the radiator. You do not see drips because the coolant is leaking onto hot engine or exhaust parts or the hot radiator, and evaporating. This is why you see steam.

What does it mean when transfluid get into the coolant

The transmission has cooler lines that run to and from the radiator. The fluid is cooled, by running thru tubing inside the one side of the radiator tank. The tubing probably has a leak, causing anti-freeze to get into the transmission. This MUST be repaired, due to the fact that the anti-freeze will do some damage to the transmission.

Ask mechanic to put green anti freeze into your water and use a radiator pressure tester to find the leak while the car is stationary. The pressure tester is a bit pricey to buy for a one off test so radiator repair workshop probably best place to get test done.Green anti freeze is easy to see when it leaks, like a tracer dye.Good luck
