Hi,

Check the battery terminals/cables for security first.
If ok, then check any fuselinks inline, on the + cable (red).

If ok, then check MAIN FUSE in the engine fuse box - replace of blown.

If these are all good.....then, re-check the earth connections on the starter & alternator, including any other components/cables you may have disturbed when changing those items.

Cheers,

What you have might be a dead battery unless you have wired the polarity of the alternator or the starter incorrectly.

Have you tried jump starting with another car? Might have to disconnect alternator just to be sure, that is first check if the starter is working and cranks the engine. Then connect the alternator and check.

Alternator not charging

The starter would have nothing to do with the alternator not charging. You most likely need a new alternator and possibly a new battery. At the very least, the battery will need to be charged 100% before running with a new alternator.

Not sure I follow you. Are you going to rewire the key switch power source back to the starter post ?
And the truck is actually a 1968 instead of a 1986 ?

1990 HONDA ACCORD WON'T TURN OVER TO START BUT IT WILL ROLL START. I HAVE CHANGED THE ALTERNATOR AND TESTED THE IGNITION SWITCH STARTER RELAY SEEMS FINE CLUTCH SWITCH SEEMS FINE MAIN RELAY IS FINE

About the only thing you didn't mention was the starter itself. You could have it tested. But before that, try to see if you have power on the small wire to starter solenoid on the starter, when key is held in cranking position. Pull the small wire off and check for power with a multimeter or a testlight while someone holds the key in crank. This is the signal wire from ignition switch that closes the elec. contacts inside solenoid so the starter gets full power from the battery to spin. (This wire also is in the circuit with the clutch switch and the starter relay.) If you have power on this wire in crank, it is very likely the starter is bad. If there is no power, check that circuit out. It is losing power somewhere from switch to starter solenoid. Good luck.

Did you check for B+ voltage at the heavier gage wire on the back of the alternator ? When yor turn the key to run , not start , does the charge indicator light ? When the vehicle is running is that charge light lit or off ? There is a fuse that supplies B+ voltage to it . Fuse # 30 located in the central junction box , it's a 30 amp fuse ! Plus one more fuse located in the battery junction block # 11 20amp . With out B+ voltage at these connections on the alternator it will not charge .

I have a 1999 ford windstar and it will not start. I had the alternator replaced and started fine. Now it will not start it just clicks. we changed the battery and still the dame thing. Please help!

It sounds like you either have a bad starter motor, or you are not getting any power to your starter moor. Check your battery connections to make sure they are all tight. Also check your connections on your alternator. If all of your connections are tight and you have power getting to your starter then chances are you are going to need a new starter motor. I hope this helps you out...

Check alternator voltage at back of alternator ( big wire ), if you have no less then 13.5 volt's, alternator is ok, check for blown alternator fuse or break at wire from back of alternator to starter then to battery, could be a bad fuse link at starter.
