Check your shocks look to see if they are wet looking if not that does mean that there not bad if you push down on the car easliy then you have a shock proplem replace the shocks and also check the sway bar, bushings and sway bar end links if they are worn out they can make your car fill unstable also. hope this help good luck.

HOW TO REMOVE REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS 2006 RAV4

Difficulty: Easy-ish
Time: About 1 hour
Tools: Two 17mm spanners - ring and open. Long spanners may help.

As the chart below shows, it's quite normal for a shock absorber to have traces of oil around the top. However leaks like level 3 to 1 mean the shock absorber (SA) needs replacing.

Probably a good idea to replace in pairs.

As always, apply hand-brake, chock the opposite front wheel and without the vehicle raised, slightly slacken off the road wheel nuts.

Symptoms of worn rear shock absorber

To test if your shocks are worn, go to each corner of your vehicle, put two hands on the car, and now pump the corner down hard a few times rapidly, trying to get it to bounce, than quickly let go!, If the car only bounces one or two or three times and stops, they are fine, If any one corner bounces more than two or three times and keeps on bouncing like 5 or 6 times, it's a worn shock. Worn shocks can make it feel like your driving a big ol' loose boat across the road, even in a small vehicle with movement both side to side and up and down, so can worn or loose body bushings, worn suspension parts, under-inflated or broken in or worn out and softened tires. If your ride height seems low it could be worn springs, Shocks are cheap and easy to change, especially the rears. Springs aren't cheap and can be a pain to change on some front ends. Good luck!

How to diagnose 1999 Pontiac Grand Am Power steering problems. Power steering fluid level seems fine. Loss of powersteering. Fine on the road hard on start up from standing start. Do I need pump, rack,...

it could still be the pump is it making a whining noise, and does the fluid smell really burnt.jack the car up and put it on jack stands set the e-brake and chock the rear tires so it can not roll, then start the car and see if there is any binding the the steering rack if there is you will notice a small jump to the rack as the wheel is turned,or a shifting on the mounting bolts that hold the rack to the cross member. If the car goes down the road fine with out a bunch of shacking or wobbling then I think I would replace the pump and have the system thoroughly flushed.I hope this helps
