Speed up problem

Mine is a nze124 using 1NZ engine, 4WD, auto transmission. Problem is, the takes a lot of time to speed up. It seems pretty heavy while I drive it. I have driven the similar car of my friend, that doesn't behave like that and that car car is like flying.

My friend's one is exactly the same as mine. However, it seems like auto gear change in my one takes longer. Besides, once I needed to flash the battery since the speed was not going beyond 2o kmph. Mechanic said its a virus problem with the controller and it requires flashing.

Speedometer cable transmission

no engine stated or transmission nor (worse) is it 4wd or 2wd.?
A/T or M/T , 4wd or 2wd, mine are both 4wd and M/T , know well.
Ill give all ways possible. (cert. tech)
you can do anything, there are no limits.
but there are consequences.. lots
context?
im not sure the question, is the one in car dead.?
and you plan on not fixing that? we need these facts.
or you want 2 speedos. one for front seat and 1 for back>?

see cluster page. here. free,
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

STOCK: 1997
the PCM measure speed via the VSS from the tranny and sends MPH
to the I/P cluster brain, (data comms) this brain then sends speed to you at the speedo meter needle (gage). (stock setup)
(bar stool, answer)
Please,
note the VSS sensor can be in 3 places. 2wd, 4wd and on 2 differ.
post car spec, and answers get easier
post photos of trans, better. (left and right side)

transmission type, and even mid year changes on transmissions can
change this.

so your car has no speedometer cable. and
on some early transmissions, you can add one, only getting the full
transmission facts on car (label) could you find this out.

if you remove the VSS, the ECU will go to limhome and never run right again, and 2 times that, if tranny is a Automatic, it shifts using the VSS data !
VSS means vehicle speed sensor.

so tell me , where would you use a cable, there is no cable port.
(look and see, is it missing, yes?)
so scratch mechanical.
is there other ways sure. lots. (no idea of application,.. me.)
Get a GPS speed meter (sold as a guage) stand alone gage.

or load Speedo (app) to any Android phone and Glue CEL to dash)

or pot a Tom Tom Nav on the dash and see it right there.
or you can buy a mag sensor and speedo setup, that fits
to the rear drive shaft that gives you speed, (after calibrating it)
(after market Vss sensor + 4wires + guage ) 1/2 mechanical.

btw , i do have this android app , used for true speed, my large tires
make my speedo in car lie, )

custom parts.

How is four wheel drive used on a 1999 durango

Hi Ralph.

I do not own a Durango, but have owned many 4WD vehicles and can offer tips for proper usage.

The "L" and "H" after the 4 and 2 stand for "Low" and "High" ranges. The 2 and 4 stand for the number of wheels that can receive power from the engine and transmission. Most 4WD vehicles only provide power to 1 wheel on each axle (front at rear for a total of just 2 wheels powered) at any given time (but for purposes of discussion, we'll call it 2WD & 4WD, as advertised).

Generally, "2WD" is only offered as a High range and is the same as a "normal" 2WD car or truck. I haven't seen a car or small truck that offers 2L (but I haven't seen a Durango - so I don't know), but generally 2WD traction can be increased easily enough by simply shifting the transmission to a lower gear (From "D" to "2" or "2" to "1", etc.).

4WD is designed to provide additional traction whenever 2WD isn't sufficient. This can be when surfaces are slippery such as sand, mud, snow and ice or, when pulling a heavy load such as a trailer and tires are not gripping the surface well. Shifting from 2WD to 4WD High will provide more traction at the same tire speed. Maximum power from the engine does not come at low RPMs, so in order to get more pulling power from the engine with out increasing speed (or spinning tires), the transmission should shifted into a lower gear. This is especially helpful when pulling a trailer up a wet incline, etc. If 4WD High in 1st gear is still allowing tires to spin or not providing enough pulling power, then shifting the transfer case from 4WD High to 4WD Low will allow the engine speed to increase (providing more power) without increasing the speed of the wheels (reducing the chances of spinning tires).

4WD should never be used while operating on dry pavement. Since tires wear at different rates, and turning left or right slows the inside tire and speeds up the outside tire when compared to the rear tires, a certain amount of slip is required. Wet surfaces provide this necessary amount of slip - as does sand, mud, snow, ice, dirt, gravel, etc. You should take the time to see how each selection of High and Low affects engine speed and vehicle speed and how the surface and any trailer further changes traction. With a little experimentation, you'll see how it works and be able to choose the right range with little thought.

Don't forget to have the transfer case & front differential fluids checked and changed as per the manual. Neglecting this simple service intervals can leave you stranded when you need 4WD and can be very expensive to repair.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Need to find a repair manuel for 1987 Dodge Ram Charger transmission

What you want/need is a Factory Service Manual for the '87 Ramcharger, it covers each transmission in depth.
Which, if i remember correctly, there were 4 transmissions available in 1987. The Torqueflite 727 3-Speed Automatic (Found in 2WD and 4WD Ramchargers), the 904 Torqueflite 3-Speed Auto (2WD only), the New Process 435 4-Speed Manual Transmission (2WD & 4WD) and the Chrysler A833 4-Speed Manual (2WD only)

I have a 1991 stock dodge W150 4wd truck with a 4 speed, I need to know what are the shift points? !st seems like a granny

I have an identical truck, 1991 Ram W150 with a 318 4speed bull low. They're called a bull low (bo low, granny four speed, farmers 4-spd) because theyre really only built for towing heavy loads, theyre a farm tractor transmission. You should never use first unless your towing a load, start in 2nd. I dont rev it too high when I shift mine. Best tranny for offroading by far, it really delivers the torque to crawl up tricky paths.

I cant find the location of the speed sensor for a 1996 Mazda B3000 pick up with auto trans

Look around the auto transmission for wires that lead to the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor):

    1. Remove the flywheel to converter attaching nuts. Use a socket and breaker bar on the crankshaft pulley attaching bolt. Rotate the pulley clockwise as viewed from the front to gain access to each of the nuts.
    2. NOTE: On belt driven overhead cam engines, never rotate the pulley in a counterclockwise direction as viewed from the front. Remove the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) clamp retaining bolt . . .

    1. . . . then pull the VSS sensor from the transfer case (4WD) or extension housing (2WD)
    1. 89687p12.jpg

    1. Remove the speedometer cable and/or vehicle speed sensor from the transfer case (4WD) or extension housing (2WD).
    2. On 2WD vehicles, scribe a mark indexing the driveshaft to the rear axle flange. Remove the driveshaft.
    1. On 4WD vehicles, remove the transfer case.

99 Tahoe 4wd simultaneous systems failure

Look for a broken or missing ground strap between the engine and the vehicle frame.

If you can't find it - or suspect it is damaged - temporarily connect a heavy gage wire or wire braid between a metal part of the engine and the NEGATIVE battery terminal. Take it for a spin to see if this helps.

    Good luck !
