Question about 2002 Hyundai Accent
If the fluid was real dark and the car has shifting problems then the tranny is already cooked.
If it's a manual transmission you may have a bad synchro causing this or a bent shift fork. More likely a bad synchro. You can try rebuilding it but it's likely to not work.
If it's an automatic, just plan on replacing it. We mess with these up and down at the dealership and in the end the labor and parts are just cheaper to replace the tranny with a remanufactured one. Labor for diagnosis is about an hour, and labor to replace it should be about 5 hours.
