Hi there,

Sounds highly likely that your Key Transponder is not communicating properly with your vehicle's smart lock (anti theft system) system. The purpose of these systems is to deny "unauthorised keys" to start your vehicle.

You would be wise to contact your local VW dealership to enquire about having ALL your transponder key's recoded to your vehicle, or renewed if faulty.

Hope this helps...

Cheers,

you need to get a new ign. lock cylinder and chip key. Or you can get a lock cylinder and copy your old key with a regular key no chip. Take new cylinder, put old chip key in it. Plug into harness at the bottom of steering column just behind the dash, fine orange wire from existing one in the column. Hide lock cylinder under dash and start car with copy of old key.

A picture of a key with a line through it

side bar in the lock itself is starting to stick-very common with these iginitions-it's all mechanical-It's easier to service the ignition why the key is still able to turn. recommend a good local locksmith for service -if not write back on how to remove.

'02 Sentra won't start, i.e., dash lights come on but no beep/chi

you need the key with the chip in it. it will have to be programmed to the car. The key and the remote are the only two things that by pass the vss. each trasmit a code that allows the fuel pump and ignition to function.
