Well, i dont think it was ever changes really, I know we had a leak and we would fill it back up. Then it would stop, hesitating and now thats fixed, and when it hesitates you can hear knocking in the engine, so I dont know if its the engine or trans.

Could be, how is the trani fluid level and color? Trani fluid should be changed every 20k miles. Was the trani fluid serviced recently, if so can you verify that the correct trani fluid type was used?

Engine hesitation

When is the last time the engine had a tune up with new spark plugs and an inspection of the ignition coils? Ignition coils were a pretty common issue with the V6 engine around that model year.

1999 acura tl 3.2 at 3000 rpms it acts like it has a rev limiter. An it wont let it shift until you let off the gas

Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

Bad gas mlg rpms go up and down at speeds between 15to 50 without me moveing my foot smell of gas but no leaks

Mark: Is the Check Engine Light on? You did not mention it but from symptoms given I'd be surprised if it was not on...I've been surprised many times...If it is on take it to an auto parts store for a free scan and send the trouble code/codes to me...If it is not on...The smell of gas without a leak indicates an emission fault in the gas fume department, however I hesitate to guess...Please let me know if the light is on...I'll wait for a reply......Guru....saailer

Its a 2.2 ohv and it runs like it has a bad miss it idles funny and kinda bogs down when i hit the gas but once above 2000 rpms it runs decent until about 3800 rpms then it sometimes starts to backfire

You didnt say if the check engine light is on? Take it to auto zone or advance auto parts store and they will plug it into diagnostic computer and let you know what sensor is bad for free. My guess? manifold pressure sensor. Good luck, dont forget to rate

When I press on the gas, the truck revs, and then lurches. Almost feels like being hit from the rear.

Is the engine running smoothly while in park or neutral, (RPMs not hesitating),?
If so then it is probably your transmission. The most obvious problem is low fluid. Make sure you follow the directions on the transmission dip stick when checking it, (check while running in idol),.
Check both the level and the color\smell. If it's dark or smells burnt it needs to be changed.
Beyond these you might have a bad torque converter or the transmission bands might need adjustment.

Car hesitates/stalls when engine is warm and car starts to move.

Sounds like a bad motor mount, pop the hood and see if the motor shakes or moves rapidly when u put it in gear holding down the brake.
