Cranks but wont start

don't know what kind of vehicle here...
You need fuel, spark and rotation to fire an engine.
If you have fuel pressure to the injector rail (or a full bowl in the carburetor) it's probably a distributor problem.
If the engine computer doesn't get a signal, it may not spark or send fuel.

What is air gap on distributor pickup on 87 Toyota 4x4 pickup w/22r

The rotor spins inside the distributor cap. At the end of the rotor is a curved metal piece. At each spark plug, inside the distributor cap are metal posts that are cut out. When rotor spins inside cap a spark jumps from the rotor end to the post, to the plug wire ,to the spark plug. The space between the rotor and post in the cap where the spark jumps, is the air gap.

Ignition mystery! 1994 GMC Suburban 2500 5.7 mtr. No spark to spark plugs. Have spark from coil to distributor. Have changed coil wire, cap, rotor, ignition module, and coil. have 12.5 volts going to...

I guess you could have the ignition analyzed on an oscilloscope. Maybe a tech could see something then.
I always heard the only gap was the spark plug gap-the rotor has no gap-are you sure you got the correct rotor? And does it touch the top distributor cap coil wire tower?

Let us know. It is a mystery worthy of a solution.

How do I change spark plugs and cables on my 05 Nissan sentra 1.8 special edition??and what else do I need besides the plugs ? Please write back at mailto:Marcomerino75@yahoo.com

Hello,
I am carsandcomps from Fixya.com. My name is Brandon. In order to replace your spark plug wires and spark plugs (best to do both) - do one at a time. Start from one side of the engine (ex: drive front/back) depending on your engine position; doesn't really matter, just start at one side.
1. Remove plug wire from plug (make sure new plug is gapped; auto parts dealer can give you this, and sell you a spark plug gap tool for cheap) 2. Follow the spark plug wire (existing one) to it's place on the distributor (if equipped) or coil pack (if equipped). 3. Pull the wire off from the distributor cap (or coil pack if equipped); insert new (gapped) spark plug, and put the new plug wire on.
Do this step for each one, as it ensures each one is placed properly and your engine will run as needed when finished. Also make sure they "click" when pushing them onto the plugs and distributor cap (coil pack) whichever is present.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

I have a 350 chevy engine using a mallory unilite distributor what is the spark plug gap for champion platinum plugs number 3025 the engine is 1978

Without any more information than this I have to say it should be between 32 and 35 thousands. I don't have the info from the ignition system that your using, Have you checked the manufactures suggestions. Unless this is a super spark ignition then the gap I quoted should work.

Engine misfires when pulling at around 3-3500 rpm, the motor is 327/365 hp with a duel point mallory distributor, motor ran fine before I adjusted the points the gap is set at .019"

.019 sounds a little high reduce it to .017 and try again, the coil fires when the gap is open and charges when its closed, it may just not be closing long enough to charge the coil, also it could be the point spring is getting weak

Hello,

Put on a "spark box" into your ignition. I have a Mallory HI-Fire 6A (?) and the car starts and runs good. You will also get better gas mileage and pass smog test.
