Question about 2003 Jaguar X-Type
Hi, I am planing to buy a used car. I have seen two cars today.
1- 2003 jaguar X type 3.0L. It has run 89k single owner.. not sure if I need to change timing belt. Dealer showed me all receipts there was not receipts that tells me if timing belt is change or not.
Carfax looks clean.
2- 1999 Audi A6 qt AWD.
this is again single owner. 74600 miles. Owner has all records. He has done 60k maintaince. he has also taken good care of car.
Was looking at parts online and could not find a timing belt for the Jag. Did find the timing cover oil seal which makes me think it has a chain , not a belt so no worries. As always I could be wrong. The audi definitely has a belt , should be changed at 60,000 Miles / 100,000 Km. I have a passat with the 2.8 V6 and find performance is not great , nor is fuel economy.
The good and bad......... jag is newer , audi is lower mileage Both are slightly finicky and repair and maint would be more $$$ than more generic cars. Ignore carfax , it is an unreliable scam.
Take each to a mechanic of your choice for an inspection.
My personal opinion is it comes down to age. If you are over 45 go with the Jag , under 45 go with the audi. (lots of performance and apearance mods avail.)

Tips for a great answer:
Feb 13, 2015 | Audi A6 Cars & Trucks
Many of the earlier jaguars cars will have the pre-wiring installed but not the phone option. If you have Bluetooth installed. Hold the radio button marked with a phone for about a second, the display will change to indicate xxxxx or 'No Phone'. If the latter is the case then it is most likely that you do not have the option installed
Based on your VIN number, your car has the wiring to implement the bluetooth module. The Jaguar part number is C2N 3689, but please check with your dealer to confirm that it is possible.
Please accept the solution if it's helpful to you and get back with us for any further query.
