I think the terms "Throttle Positon Sensor", TPS and "Throttle Body" can be misleading at least in regards to the 04 Camry.

My 04 Camry gave a diagnostic reading of P2121 for my problem "Throttle PEDAL position switch D circuit". However, we changed out the complete Throttle Body/TPS (Toyota Part #22030-0H020) that did NOT fix problem.

The 04 Camry TPS Electronic Module "Throttle Positon Sensor" is factory assembled and riveted to the side of the throttle body. The only way to service/inspect it would be to cut off or drill out the rivets. Not sure you could open the darn thing if you got it off, but that seems to be the only way Toyota sells them!!

Hopefully a new Throttle PEDAL Position Sensor (Toyota Part # 78010-33010 PEDAL ASSY, ACC)
will fix it. This is located under the dash near the accelerator pedal.

So, now I would recommend FIRST to replace the "Throttle PEDAL Positon Sensor" (it is much, much cheaper) and then the Throttle Body/TPS assembly!! Unless of course, you get a diagnostic code as you did for "faulty throttle body!!

Today, while waiting for my 04 Camry to have that old "Throttle PEDAL Position Sensor" replaced, I noticed that the guy never lifted the hood and worked with the front doors open under the dash for about 20 minutes.

I guess I wasn't really surprised to see my invoice which reads:
    (1) REPLACE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR **DONE**

Anyway, that fixed our acceleration or more like lack of acceleration problem!! Step on pedal and car would not move then when you pushed it to floor, it would jump or surge ahead. Camry is running GREAT now!!

Hi there,

Assuming your diagnostic is correct:

The Throttle Position (TPS) sensor is usually a separate unit on many vehicles, but in your instance.....it is part of the Throttle Body assembly and may need to be changed as a complete unit.

However, if your'e tech savvy....you may want to inspect the assembly, to see if it's possible to remove just the TPS from the assembly. If yes, then you can then try obtaining just the TPS sensor only, from a car wrecker and have a go at fitting the TPS unit to your existing Throttle Body.

Just an idea, but you must ensure you know what you're doing, ok?

Cheers,

Scott

Just replace the throttle position sensor.

REMOVE the negative battery before you start.

Pay close attention on the position of the connector before you remove it.

Make sure the accelerator cable is operate smoothly.

Reconnect neg. battery cable.....this will reset the code.

Reprogram the radio stations. ////depending on your radio you may need a code to resume operation.

Where is the Engine Throttle Position Sensor located in my 2007 Cadillac DTS

It is located in the throttle body assembly . Your vehicle has electronic throttle control .
Throttle Body Assembly
The throttle body assembly contains the following components:
?€¢
The throttle blade

?€¢
The throttle actuator motor

?€¢
The throttle position (TP) sensor 1 and 2

The throttle body functions are similar to a conventional throttle body with the following exceptions:
?€¢
An electric motor opens and closes the throttle valve.

?€¢
The throttle blade is spring loaded in both directions and the default position is slightly open.

?€¢
There are 2 individual TP sensors within the throttle body assembly.

Oh yea it has two TPS - throttle position sensors ! An you have to replace the whole assembly !

2kd-ftv engine problem p1226 fuel line malfunction

Possible causes of the P1226 code include:
  • Faulty electric throttle control actuator, throttle position sensor 2
  • Faulty throttle control actuator harness is open or shorted, throttle position sensor 2
  • Electric throttle control actuator circuit has poor electrical connection, throttle position sensor 2
To nail down the exact cause of the code, do a visual inspection for lose wires and connections at the sensor, or damage to the sensor body itself. If no problems with the wiring and connections are detected, a worn/damaged electric throttle control actuator is likely at fault. Signs of a bad throttle control actuator include erratic acceleration, and unresponsive throttle, and poor fuel economy.

Location of throttle position sensor and how to replace it 1997 toyota camry 2.2 4cylinder

Hello

At the point where the air intake hose is connected to the engine is a part called the "throttle body". the TPS is attached to the outside of the throttle body. See picture below.

The Lincoln LS 2002 what causes the engine to cut off in local traffic or sitting at a traffic light.

1--(TPS) Throttle Position Sensor
2-Mechanically bound fuel pump.

Check for codes,if light is on dash, when it occurs.

TPS- is avail at auto part store or online. Forget the dealer. They will sell you the entire throttle body. Only need that if the motor fails. Sensor is replaceable.

Check fuel pressure also.

Engine doen't stay idle at steady rpms rev up and down by itself

Either you have a vacuum leak, a bad throttle body position sensor, or a bad throttle body.

If the throttle body is drive by wire (electronic) then it would be a bad throttle body.

If the throttle body is drive by cable (manually driven by a cable connected to the gas peddle) then it would be a bad throttle position sensor.

If the throttle body is bad the check engine light wil lbe on. If it is on have your codes read at your local parts dealer for free, and this will give you a clue as to which pices/parts you need to replace.

Have the car leak tested and the vacuum linse inspected for leaks as well.
