On my 1976 Chevy C20 pickup I go to start it and starter won't stop running I bench tested and it works fine so what could be the problem

If the starter and solenoid is good and not hanging up I would check the Ignition switch to make sure it is releasing back after turning it to the start position. Be sure key is not sticking.

Gearshift sticks in park 2004 gt mustang 40th annv

Sounds like the interlock is out of adjustment. There is a switch on the brake pedal lever which sends a signal to release the shifter by reading the brake light signal. Often this switch gets hit by the Drivers feet and has either moved or broken. Your shifter will act up if the Ignition switch rod has slipped out of adjustment or if the ignition switch has slipped on its mount on the steering column.

I have replaced ignition switch, ignition box, upper solenoid, and starter on my F 150 302 auto trans truck. My starter still sticks What next?

Sticks as in Hangs in flywheel - or sticks as in stays on?

302 has several starters. Some with subtle differences that shops and parts stores often mix/confuse. Wrong starter will often hang in flywheel.

If sticking is "staying on" - powered after key is released, Please disregard.

Hello. Its a common prob actually with all gm , ford cars and trucks. The ignition has whats called a " sidebar". This sticks up and causes this , or gets stuck on, or key wont come out ,or all the above. You will need a new ignition. Checker or autozone has them around 17 bucks..Quinn Arizona

Engin does not turn over or start no power to small wire on starter

if this car is a stick shift it can be dangerous. to test this this way. if it is a stick make sure the car is in nuetral and the e brake set. if it is auto it should be in park. attach a test wire to the small wire on the starter. turn on the key to run pos. touch the test wire to the positive battery cable for a second do not leave it hooked up. does the car start this way. if so a automatic car could need a nuetral safety switch or ignition switch. if it is a stick it may need a clutch safety switch or the ignition switch. good luck
