Question about 2003 Acura RSX

Es, and we changed the timeing chain and belts ect. Now only piston 4 misfires at an idle, and we tested the coilover on piston four and its good. so the only thing i havent replaced is my upstream o2 senor which is bad. but i dont belive that would cause a misfire in piston four.. we check the spark plugs and all, is been at the dealership and their stumped and out of ideas beside gettin the o2 sensor on it.... SO any sugestions?? PLEASE and thanks

Have you checked the injector a misfire can also be caused by a faulty injector try switching the number 4 coil with one of the others( if possible )if that cause the cyl that you switch with misfire youve found the problem if in do the same with the injecter but before all that check the compression it should be at least at 150 good luck.

Why is my suzuki forenza misfiring


You have to determine which cylinder is doing the misfire. It may not be an ignition problem but possible injector problem.

Timing chains and actuator replaced, now i have a code PO2279


P2279 is the code for Air Intake System Leak. Smoke checks are ok, but hard to see in places like the underside of the intake manifold. SInce your compression is good and even, chances are that the problem is at the intake manifold gasket.

P0303 Code has been detected, I already change spark plugs for new ones, then I tested the coils by swapping them. I don't know what to do next. It might be an ingector??


what country? what engine, USA is 2.0L chain cam.
7 engine world wide,?
my wild guess is uSA as 2002 cars in many countries
have no OBD2. till later.. no 303 to show. my weak guess,....

it's means , ONLY that #3 misfires. ( P0303 not just spark )
there are lots of ways to misfire. huge.
but here they are. (some)
1: bad spark to #3 (cop? coil swapped, got 4 coils or 2 or ?)
no country stated, some have wasted spark with 1 cops per pair of cylinder i presume its 4 COP 4cylinder engines.
2: bad injection #3 (injector clogged or weak, or bad conn, to ECU.
3: weak compression to #3
4: coolant leaks to #3
5: valves sticking on #3 (or oil leaking past valve guides #3)
6:Does the spark plug re-foul, yes/no?
is that fouling (if true #3) oil , water, green, or fuel soaked?
color of spark tips are a huge clue, learn to read them.

in most cases, guessing never works, you need to do tests.
start with compression. at spec. all cylinders. are they equal.?
Does the strobe light show, misfire at idle?
is the fuel trim in OBD2 looking ok , near zero . Long term fuel trim.
"LTFT" mine runs -4% not -40 rich or +40 rich
are there only 303s, no others?
is the engine ECU holding closed loop at idle and light flat cruise?

you do ,know all engines have 1 weaker cylinder, (marginal)
and if fuel mix is off, the weakest cyl ,fails first
so ignoring fuel mix above, fails to find a real culprit.
closed loop. does closed loop hold?

keep in mind this.
the ECU detected a weak power stroke on #3.
it has no idea at all why , only that its 100% true ,that fact..
well, if the cam is not bouncing.... rare, if chain , common with belt drive. then that too can show misfire in very odd ways.
(cam and belt bias , facts are complex but can show up ,in odd ways. turn a cam head off, and feel that bias. this fact add to the belt or chain bounce and cat favor a cylinder or a tad weak one.)
so if the belt or chain bounces, oops. (the chain will yell , im bad)
didnt try to look up which motor you have., so chain or belt.
of stated suz. engine type.
2 liter? or 2.3L? j18/20/23? its called.
no miles stated, 100k ,300k? what?
the chains can fail about 120k, and the tell you,

well it could be your timing chain or belt or you need to fix the piston on it

2003 cadillac cts 3.2 liter..rough idle, scan tool shows misfire on bank 1, cylinders 1,3,&5. only at idle, scan tool also showed a cam postion sensor code. cam position sensor changed. no change in...


Did you ever find a solution to this? I am having the same issue on 2,4,6. I have replaced the coils. checked the intake for vacuum leaks. I am lost here let me know if you find anything and I will do the same.

Misfire #4 p0304 engine is sluggish.rough idle at times


Check the coil, a good test is to change the coil with another cylinder and see if the misfire moves to that cylinder, if it moves then you will know its the coil make sure to mark it so you know which one to replace, this is very common for coils to go bad, heres a diagram to help you locate #4 cylinder.couldnt get diagram but if its a four cylinder then #4 is the last one back if its a 6 cylinder then it will be the first cylinder on the driverside .first cylinder from the front to rear,

ignition mod. grounds,pcm or timing belt could all be it but, I would have to look at timing first.
