The problem could be with the thermostat geing stuck in the open position and not allowing the motor to run hot enough, or the cable on the heater control may not be operating properly.

Here is the thing about a heater core most don't get and have been stumped my self by it. the in and out are on top of the heater core unlike a radiator. when it is blocked up it flows straight through unlike a radiator it will not flow when blocked because it has a in at the bottom and out at the top or visa versa.

so if the repair shop tried to push fluid or air through it to test it it would seem not clogged.

so if the heater core is blocked you would have this symptom. also if the system has not been tampered with (coolant system) then air should have not got in unless there is a leak or break in it some where.

also i have seen debre in the bypass tube where it enter the engine causing decreased flow.

hope this helps and good luck

My 2002 saturn sl1 is weakly blowing luke warm air out when i have my heat at its hottest setting and my fan at full blast.

the best way to find out if the problem is in the cabin or under the hood is to touch the heater hoses when the motor is at operating temperature. turn on the heat full blast and feel the hoses; if they are both almost too hot to touch then the problem is with your blend door or its control mechanism. if one is noticeably cooler than the other then you,ve got a clogged heater core. if they are both cool enough to touch then your motor is running too cool

Why does my heat blow warm air then it turns cold

its VERY likely that your heater core is getting stopped up.

The heater in your car works by circulating hot water from the engine into a copper or aluminum pipe coiled up in the dashboard. The heater/airconditioner's fan blows across it and the hot air comes out of the vents. This is why the heater doesn't work right away when you first start the car. It usually won't work until the hot/cold needle in the gauges is starting to rise up.

If your mechanic recently replaced the thermostat, its possible that there is air in the system which will result in less antifreeze in the car than it should be. If this is not the case, the heater core is probably stopping up and will require expensive replacement if it cannot be flushed clean.

Check to make sure the car is full of antifreeze IN THE RADIATOR, AND THE OVERFLOW JUG. Please be very sure there is NO AIR in the cooling system as well.

1st your fan motor may be going or something has fallen in the vents you will need to gain access for that, or it might be YOU MAY HAVE AIR BLOCK, OR BLOCKED HEATER MATRIX, CHECK FIRST CHECK THE HEIGHT OF THE HEATER MATRIX IN THE CAB , IF ITS HIGHER THAN THE FILLER/EXPANSION TANK. THEN COULD BE AN AIR LOCK, LOOK FOR THE HIGHEST PIPE AND SEE IF THERE IS A BLEED VALVE, IF NOT TAKE BOTH PIPES OFF THE MATRIX FEEDS (TWO PIPES GOING FROM ENGINE BAY TO INSIDE OF CAR, AND FLUSH OUT WITH HOSE TO SEE IF IT IS BLOCKED, AND RECONNECT LOWEST PIPE FIRST AND FILL SYSTYM TILL WATER APPEAR FROM TOP AND RECONNECT RUN MOTOR, AND KEEP TOPIN UP, YOU CAN BY A COOLENT FLUSH SOLUTION TO CLEAN THE SYSTYM OUT

Mercedes 190E heater blowing just luke warm air

there should be an electric water pump exclusively for the heater. on these 201 body cars it should be under the hood, on the passenger side, near the fender well. when the heater is engadged, this pymp should turn on pushing the hot water into the heater core. if these are not working, it will obstruct the water flow.
