Get a large hammer, u know the rest.
if you remove the the vinyl cover from the door jamb around the mechanism you should locate the power leads depress the clip and pull the wires apart.
you could also at this time remove unit and get the parts and fix the offending unit

Seat belts are are a critical safety item and if faulty must be replaced with a new item. If it just stops the belt from coming out check for something interfering with the belt action.

2004 chevy tahoe, the seatbelts constantly retract and strangle passengers.

you should pull the belts all the way out to make certain that they are not folded over themselves-check to make sure there is not something in the locking mechanism causing this, and if necessary take the vehicle to the dealer to have them check it-usually safety related devices are covered under extended warranty terms and it may get repaired for free.

Seatbelt lock reset on f-150 pick up

rear seat belts lock if you pull them out all the way and put them ALR mode. Automatic Locking Restraint. It will ratchet as the belt is rewound. This is for holding a child seat in place.

Is this your issue?

What do i do?

there is a cable that the auto-seatbelt pulls and pushes from...after a while the cable gets worked into the groove and gets itself jammed and then burning up the motor that operates it. Some of the older Ford Escorts have the same problem. i haven't seen a Colt Vista's door but on the Escort i saw the slot in which the cable moved the seat-belt from the top after i removed the plastic cover. I immediately saw where it was jammed..shoved it in with a screw driver. then i removed the cover where the motor was (near the floor behind the driver's seat) and i manually cranked it to the closed position. The seat-belt was capable of being undone like a normal seat belt at the top. so i had to do that and clasp the bottom lap belt by hand for the lifetime of that car. i could have made it operational so it can jam up again but just kept it sationary to prevent that. At least i wouldn't get a ticket for no seatbelt. hope this helps.

Automatic seat belt removal and replace with regular seat belts

You'd need to pickup the need parts at the junkyard. You'll need the "A" to "B" pillar trim, lower "B" pillar trim, front seat belts and seatbelt giude from a 1995 SC1 or SC2.

The treaded hole in the frame of the car where the track of the automatic seatbelt assembly attaches is in a slightly different place than the three point system. Its not a problem though. You just need to drill a 3/4" hole slightly above the existing hole in the trim panel. The existing hole is hidden by the seatbelt and not noticable at all.

Everything else pretty much bolts or snaps into place.

I've done this swap on several 1991-1994 Saturn S-Series.

The motor I believe, is located in the pillar between the doors. Remove the trim and pull the plug on the motor itself.

1991 CIVIC LX AUTOMATIC SEATBELTS NOT WORKING.

I had a problem on a 91 Civic DX where the drivers auto seat belt wouldnt move and the beeper would not stop.Had a blown seat belt fuse.Replaced the fuse no more problem. The Seat belt fuses are located under the red cover that covers the positive battery terminal. On mine the fuse closest to the font of the car was for the drivers side auto seat belt the one closest to the windshield is for the passager seat belt. They are green and rated at 30A.

Automatic seatbelts to manual seatbelts

if i were you i would try to make the ones from either the mark 3 supra or try the es250.. im trying to get it to work with the supra but i think your best bet is from the lexus es250. they share the same chassis obviously so most parts are interchangeable.
