Question about 1993 Toyota Camry V6

2 Answers

The car doesn't turn over on the first try and the battery is new. It does start, after a few tries. I thought it might be something caused by the change in the weather and the dampness. Any suggestions?

I would first get or give it a tune up by replacing plugs, wires, cap, rotor, filter and fuel filter and see if that change your starting. also have the injectors check and clean. if you have a high miles like over 100k, i would recommend have timing belt check and replace if you have not done so. Good idea replacing timing belt every 100k, you don't want it to jump time or break which will leave you stranded.

It wont start I thought it was the starter sticking put a new one on it so then it started fine until this morning when I turn key over all I hear is one click on the fire wall on the passenger side then...

That must be the starter relay that is clicking. I know some Celica enthusiasts used to talk about old wiring in the starting circuit causing such problems-too much resistance in the old wiring and connections. Some of them ran new wire from the ignition switch to the starter relay and a new wire from the relay to the starter. One guy bypassed the old relay and added a new one just off the battery, with all new wires. He said it solved the problem.
I don't know if this is your problem. You could have something else, like a clutch switch that is erratic, maybe even the relay is failing. Try pulling the relay out and look for corrosion at the terminals-that could be the problem.

Townace won't start!!! Help!!!

First thing I would do is make sure the batter cables are secure and tight to the battery post and make sure the red cable is to the + side of the battery and black is on the - side of the battery. They need to be tight and snug in order to put out the amps needed to start the car. YOu can also put a trickle charger on the battery over night at the 2 amp setting and make sure it is charged up. I would guess one of those problems is what is causing you your grief.

Good luck

Battery losing charge...E430

its possible that the coils of the anternator are worn out.
then the batterie dont charge.take voltmeter and see if the engine,
is running ,if you read some 14.50 volts on the batterie is good.
if you read 12 or 13 volts is bad the anternator

I have a 2000 Lincoln navigator and today it wouldn't turn on battery is good it doesn't make any noise when i try turning it on is it the starter or could it be something else

could be the starter solenoid or your battery checks out fine on voltage but does not have enough amperage. you can take both to the auto parts store and have both checked out.
after thought make sure you battery contacts(cable connector) are clean dirty corroded contacts cause amperage loss.

Mine is doing the exact same thing! The first time it completely failed to turn over was last week on 12/7/10. A jump start got it going and although it was hesitant to turn over on a few occasions afterwards, it would start ... until this morning, 12/14/10. I do not have a solution yet, but if you find out anything, please post it here. I will do the same.

if you keept trying to start it with no luck it could be possible you have flooded the cylinder. get a can of starter fluid and spray it in your intake(air filter box) and try to turn it over. if it trys to start you should drain all fule. add new fule with a can of octain boost. if car does not start pull spark plugs and try to drain cylinder

Your cable from the battery needs to be in great shape. If this happens mostly when the weather is very hot, it is quite likely the cause.
