Dome light relay defective and won't pull out. How can I remove it? 1998 Windstar

No catch. it is probably melted into the plastic panel it plugs into. from overheating, the leads that plug into it are melted. you need to remove the panel and look underneath to see how extensive the damage is. The only solution is to cut around the plastic carefully to remove. may have to rewire a new relay in using the old wires where there is no damage.

The warning bell and dome lights come on when I slow down as in stopping at a stop sign. The dome lights also stay on after I stop close doors and leave car. They remain on for up to an hour or so.

this is almost alwys caused by defective door coutesy light/door ajar switch contacts is the sliding doors of the van, have done dozens at work for this problem.

Dome light stays on

One of the door frame ajar sensor became unhooked or stopped working. Check all sensors for sliding doors and front doors. Sensor itself is easy to pull out for inspection with a small screwdriver.. Just make sure that the connector doesnt get lost in the hole inside the door frame, because they are VERY difficult to fish out.

I have a 1998 Ford F150 no Dome lights and cargo lights

Hello. the wiring harness plug that goes into the relay panel just to the left of the brake pedal may be your culprit. . If you remove the cover of the relay panel and wiggle the wires in the big connection plug, you will likely find that your interior lights will flicker. I believe Ford had a recall on these wiring harnesses so contact a Ford dealer about that.

Door ajar and dome lghts

Probably a door switch, check them first. Go to each door with a can of penatrating oil, find the switch in the jam, give it a shot and work the button manually until they're all freed up. Watch the light while you do this to eliminate which one's causing the problem. Please post your results.
