Question about 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer Ext
1. U HAVE 3 SEPERATE AND UNRELATED PROBLEMS, THE ISSUE WITH THE LOW VOLTAGE IS DUE TO THE ENGINE IDLE GOING TO LOW FOR THE ALTERNATOR TO PUT OUT ENOUGH VOLTAGE TO KEEP UP WITH THE SYSTEM NEEDS FOR VOLTAGE, TO START WITH YOU WILL NEED TO CLEAN THE IDLE SPOEED CONTROL VAVLE AND THE THROTTLE BLADE, HERE IS HOW YOU DO THAT.Here are the common cause of surges, cold stalls, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake
2. THE NEXT THING IS THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION, THAT IS CAUSED BY A WELL KNOWN FAULT WITH THE ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN THERMATOR AIR INJECTION PUMP, THEY ARE VERY TROUBLESOME ON THIS YEAR, THE PUMP IS LOCATED UNDER THE CAR JUST BLEOW THE DRIVERS SEAT AND SUPPLIES AIR TO THE EXHAUST MANIFIOLD TO HELP BURN OFF HYDROCARBONS (FUEL) DURING COLD START, U WILL NEED TO REPLACE IT..
3. THE FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE LEVEL SENSOR INSIDE THE FUEL TANK, YOU WILL NEED TO PULL THE FUEL TANK OUT AND REPLACE IT, IT IS PART OF THE FUEL TANK MODULE, THIS IS NOT A JOB FOR THE HOME MECHANIC UNKLESS U HAVE A GOOD QUALITY 21/2 TON FLOOR JACK AND 4 SAFETY STRANDS, THE TRUCK HAS TO BE IN THE AIR AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE. . GO TO THE LINK BLEOW FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS ON REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WHICH CONTAINS THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR.
