my 99 chevy malibu takes a while to start. it sounds like its trying to catch but it takes a couple of tries. someone told me it was the starter. does that sound right?is so where would it be located?
define trying to catch. is the engune turning over but sounding like it may start then finally does? or does the starter spin but the engine is not turning unless you turn the key to start a few times if it is the latter it could very well be the starter. check to see if you have an oil leak onto the starter. if it very greasey then you will need to adress the oil leak too. the starter is located on the lower right side of the engine. (passanger side.)

my '99 malibu is having a tranny problem... it slips from take-off, and when on the hghway, it feels like a slight bucking while it's tryng to shift. also, I just put a brand new starter in, but it still seems slow to start (not ''catching'' right away). I love the car, but it seems to be one problem after another lately. It only has 84k miles.
