Yes the motor can be unplugged, the plastic gears in those motors have a tendency to wear out.

You will have to get to the motor on the bottom of the antenae. This is sometimes a pain to get to, but usually there are access points through the fenders on the inside that allow you to get to it. The clip that holds the wires on will work in one of two ways, either you will have to pinch a tab and it will pull off, or you will have to lift a tab to get it to pull off. I haven't messed with one of these in a while, and after a few thousand wire clips you forget which style goes with which vehicle.

Very loud sound from steering pump motor

Depending on the vehicle type, check the power steering fluid. Make sure it's full up to the mark on the stick. If it's full, it's a bad pump.

The radio antenna on the Volvo S 40 is fully retractable. It opens up upon swtching on the radio and retracts upon its closing. The radio antenna is now stuck although the motor can be heard.

I have similar problem. Not sure why it started, but the motor TRIES to move the antenna when turned on or off, but it pushes it maybe an inch or two then stops. If i try and pull it up or push it down it is VERY hard to do, feels like i am forcing it somewhat.
Its almost like the motor has forgotten where the top & bottom is. Any solution would be much much appreciated!

1993 T100--Unplug antenna motor

Find access to where the antenna motor is, and visually inspect/trace what kind of electrical connection there is going to it. It may be a simple unplugging of two connectors. I am suspecting that the antenna motor and the radio share the same fuse, as the power from the radio passes thru to the antenna motor when the radio gets turned on. So, can't just pull the fuse. But if there is a fuse JUST for the antenna, then pull it out.

Antenna doesn't retract when car is off

The antenna is wired to go down when the key is turned off. The motor is probably stripped out. You need to replace the motor at the base of the antenna, or unplug the bad one to make it quit running with the key off

The antenna won't go up or down & motor makes a horrible noise.

mate this problem is easier to solve than you think but it depend s if you are near a place that sells car parts if so just ask them for a new mast and take it home there will be a little crome nut around the arial base undo this and yank the old one out while putting the radio on ,the isides should come out to ,now feed the new one in while turning the radio off the will start to reel the new tail in ,best to have a little helper, the arial will go down and put the crome nut back on problem solved

1998 pontiac transport montana starting problems

It could be the starting motor is faulty or was not installed correctly, particularly if you are finding it turns over the engine slower than it should (dragging and dragging down the battery voltage). When starting the car, the teeth must mesh properly with the ring gear or all sorts of strange things will eventually happen. Alignment is controlled by shims on the mounting bolts and if they are the wrong ones or missing, also usually bad news.
