mechanic advised torque converter caused transmission to go bad. will go in reverse but no power. also when driving, goes from 1st to 2nd with difficulty then when going in to 3rd, makes an awful squeaking noise. any suggestions?

well based on the symptoms you need a new or rebuilt transmission, as to the cause, yes the TC can cause a failure, but it is a guess on there part is my opinion
