150000 miles. Mostly at highway speed there is a loud popping noise at passenger feet. Seems to be cooling system related? I dont think it is in the final drive. does't change when coasting in neutral. thanks
You may have an exhaust system that when it heats up or all the time is collapsing internally. It would be more apparent when warm. An easy way to check is to warm car up then have someone in the car and be at the back and hold your hand near the tailpipe. You will feel exhaust coming out at idle, now have the other person rev the engine and hold the idle up does the exhaust increase. If not you have a clog and it needs to be addressed for safety. I don't think you have a cooling system problem.

1999 intrigue GLS 3.5- Runs rough. The guy I got it from was told the cat convert was bad so he gutted it. Still runs rough. I took it to Autozone and the codes read "bad cranshaft position sensor" and "multiple cyl misfire". I pulled the sensor and the wires have been very hot and were bare at the plug. Some may have been touching each other. I repair the wires as best I could and retried it. Still bad. I purchased a new sensor, still bad. I now have the plugs out and tested the compression. All are above 120 but the rear three are around 140-150. I am goingto change the plugs and little rubber boots. Is there something else that can cause the rough running, high idle then drops to almost nothing and sometimes dies, no power and must be held at high idle to drive?

1999 intrigue GLS 3.5 l engine. Runs rough, no power. The guy I got it from gutted the Cat converter and that didn't fix it. I took it to autozone and the codes indicated a bad crank sensor, and misfire. It was said the crank sensor could cause the misfire, So I replaced it. No go. I am currently doing a full tune up on it (which is basically plugs and those little rubber boots. Is there something else that I should check?
