2005 Golf TDI stop light lasts anywhere from zero time to 1 month max. Any suggestions to get a longer lasting solution?

when was the last time you changed your O2 sensors allot of people miss understand these sensors and usually wait until they fail to replace and end up with engine light on.However these are a common switch that is part of a routine tune up maintenance every 50.000kms or so these do affect starting,,cars emissions performance, mileage etc.I have seen these not work properly and not activate engine light so my solution would be O2 sensor Bank 1 sensor 1

check door switches remove 1 at a time and unplug it once you find the bad switch lights will go out
un plug 1 at a time

Sounds like the heater plugs, and as its quite cold it will take longer to heat up, have you tried giving it one heat light then turn the ignition off again, then do it again 3 times in total then try to fire it over if it starts quite easy then its your heater plugs. timing shouldnt be out, if it was then it would seem very lumpy even when turning over.

my power steering light comes on and off, and the car will not switch on once turned off, its draining the battery??

ok....the problem is the rear washer pipe has blown of in the tailgate where it connects to the motor,it happens when you operate the rear washer when it is frozen.the connection is fairly weak and cant cope with pressure build up.in both cases you need to remove the tailgate trim,reconect the pipe and dry out the catch as that has a micro switch in it that operates the warning light for tailgate open and the alarm.it is shorted out with water hence the false alarming and warning light on........if you pop the bonnet but dont open it that will stop alarm from arming as temp fix,but dont forget to shut it before you drive off .hope this helps,please rate this ,thx

try a cam sensor as this monitors timing,could be getting weak and loseing it then repicking up
