Lots of possible reasons. Let's first see if the problem is fuel related. Spray a little engine starter fluid, just a little, into the air intake, and crank right away (before it evaporates). If the engine runs for a second, or even if it just coughs a little, your problem is fuel. For instance, out of fuel, or not being pressurized by the injector pump, or fuel shutoff valve is not opening. More information would be nice to have. Are your glow plugs working? Is the weather very cold?
problems include
insufficient cranking speed
incorrect fuel pump pressure to the injectors---25,000 psi--
crank position sensor problem
glo-plugs inoperative
air in the fuel system
fuel tank not venting
ECM problems
run the fault codes to find the area of the failure
Not understanding what your asking. But was having a similar problem.Engine was cranking but wont start.I found out that the battery volts were to low.Changed batteries and there she goes started right up.
