CHECK EGINE LIGHT IS ON IN AN 96 ACURA INTEGRA.

it means that there is a fault in the system. it could be as simple as the gas cap was removed while it was running, which causes the system to think there is a vapor leak.
What ever the cause is, the system will eventually retest itself and if the issue is now fixed, it will turn the light off.
The trouble codes on the system can be retrieved, but requires an obd2 scan tool.
Check with your local parts store, alot of them will scan your system for free.
If your check engine light is blinking, do not drive your car. It means the issue it has will damage the catylist converter if you continue to operate it under this condition, and can be very expensive to fix

It indicates a problem, usually some part of the emissions system. You need to check for codes stored on the cars computer which will indicate what is wrong. Bring the acura to a parts store, they will use a hand held scan tool which will plug into your cars diagnostic port and 'read' any codes stored on the computer.
