Problem for Ford 2006 Focus

Battery light

battery light is on...put new battery in car and light is still on...disconnected battery to run on altenator and run just fine...need help

- how do you check the diode in the altenator? or does that call for replacing the altenator?

My friend;
Try this;

Your Alternator NOT producing enough Volts & It's going to die soon.

I suggested that you check the performance of your electric Alternator; It seems it's NOT producing enough Volts.
It must produce at least 13.7 volts with some loads ON.
Such head light, air-condition ON.

Alternator produces between 13.7- 14.8 volts to power the car accessories & charging the battery.

Alternator has brushes might be worn or broken, etc.

OR : check battery post may has corrosion on it or the cable strands { wires}.
Need cleaning & thin coat of grease.

You could have a bad diode in the alt. causing the lamp to come on but still charge the battery.
