I have a 2000 beetle GLX turbo automatic. It stalls every once in a while, seemingly at low rpm's it will just shut off. The red generator light comes on the dash (the battery looking light).I just start it back up again and it starts fine every time but it can be bothersome. It's either at idle or while coming into low rpm's. Also, my transmission is slipping while I am driving it, and it's also jerking me around quite bit. Some days there isn't anything, but other days it is just terrible. Every time you go to accelerate, the car jerks you back into your seat. It also tends to act like it's in neutral sometimes - it will just go really high into rpm's while the car isn't moving even though my foot is on the gas, and then bam! Throws me into gear. Just bought it three months ago - carfax shows a stellar maintenace record & I am kind of stressed as I paid a lot for it & don't know what these issues are. Any ideas what to do or what it can be?

My 2000 VW Beetle idles really rough and loses power on acceleration. Not all the time just sometimes - especially going up hills. It feels like the more gas I give it the weaker it gets so I just kind of go light on the gas til it catches up to where it should be and then it's fine.... engine light is on.This seems to go away after driving it for 15 minutes or so. This started immediately after I let someone use my car to jump start their Jeep - but I've been told it isn't my alternator because it always starts up just fine.

My 2000 2.0 not Turbo VW Beetle idles really rough like it's going to die and loses power on acceleration. Not all the time just sometimes - especially going up hills and at the beginning of a trip. It feels like the more gas I give it the weaker it gets so I just kind of go light on the gas til it catches up to where it should be and then it's fine.... engine light is on. After driving for 15 minutes or so it seems to run normal. This started happening immediately after I let someone jump start their Jeep with my car about three weeks ago. I've been told it isn't the alternator though because it starts just fine.

I have a 2006 Beetle that just recently died twice while driving down the road. It starts right back up after I put it in park. The check engine light has come on twice also but this was because I did not put the gas cap on correctly. Any suggestions?
