your book will say the service interval for the chain. It called a belt. Its usually done around 80,000. No adjustment can be made. It gets replaced. If you fail to replace it it can break and destroy the engine.

YOUR CAR DOESN'T USE A TIMING CHAIN IT HAS A RUBBER TIMING BLET, TWO VERY DIFF THINGS, YOU NEVER ADJUST A TIMING BELT YOU REPLACE IT, THIS ENGINE NEEDS A NEW TIMING BLET EVERY 60,000 MILES.
