Honda CRV 2002 - Speedometer gauge is working but

Honda CRV 2002 - Speedometer gauge is working but odometer lcd has black spots that affect meter readability. The spots are increasing in size on daily basis. I have seen similar black spots in LCD calculators. It sounds like LCD is broken. The car did not have any damage. How can this be fixed? How much would repair cost?
