The 3.3 and 3.8 engine hold 4.5 quarts of oil (including the oil filter), and I'm not sure if by '1/8 low' you mean it was low by 1/8, which would be about 1/2 quart, or you only had 1/8 of the oil in the engine, and had to add approximately 4 quarts to bring it to the correct level. If you only added 1/2 qt or so, that is not a problem, if you had to add close too 4 qts, you may have engine problems due to a lack of lubrication. There would not have been enough oil to lubricate the internal engine components. It sounds as though the van is running ok, you didn't mention any noises or problems driving it, so regardless of how much oil you had to add, bring it to a parts store for a free scan of the vans computer to check for engine codes. The light will go on if any codes are in the computer. The parts store will attach a hand held scan tool to the diagnostic port under the dash to 'read' any stored codes. They can suggest what to do to correct the problems indicated by the code(s). Write them down and post them here w/ any questions you may have. Good luck.

The "check engine" light has NOTHING to do with oil or oil level. There is a problem with the fuel injection, transmission or emission system with your van. Youy will need a qualified repair shop check it out and recommend repairs.
