my dome light wont turn off even if the doors close but it will shut off if turn off the head light

I had a similar problem with my Sorento, the dome light would not come on with the doors but would come on with dome switch, it turns out they have a diode that opens up and I'm thinking if the diode shorts it may cause the opposite effect, hope this helps.
