2000 4.0 sohc explorer cold start erratic, almost stalls levels off at 900 rpms, no codes, replaced iac.- iat, tps, ect, ckp, cmp sensores within spec. timing chains rattle at start up HEELP!!!!
timing chains rattle at start up HEELP!!!! <<<<< This Will NOT Set A Code And WILL Cause EP Engine Performance Problems, If the Timing Chain DEVIATES More than 8 Degrees it is NO GOOD for OPTIMUM Engine performance.
The Fact that you have NO CODES Lieves DIAGNOSING it Fairly Simple. Morning Starts (COLD START) is a CLOSED LOOP Condition and by the time it warms up it closes LOOP and the ECM takes over the Timing, and compisates for the LOOSNESS of the Timing Chain by ADVANCING / RETARDING the Timing. thus Good Running when Warmed up. Hope & I Wish you Good Luck with it.

I have a 2000 explorer and when you start it for the first time it will not stay running. It idels erratically and dies. Even when the vehical is warm it likes to stall when the idle goes below 900.
