1997 Ford F350 Stalls When Headlights are Turned on.

  • J. Walter Ramsey Nov 09, 2009

Had battery Checked and alternator also, both are operating fine. with truck running, i turn headlights on and engines stalls, if i'm quick i can push the headlights off and the truck refires and continues to run. all other equipment operates while truck is running. headlights operate with truck off.

I had the same problem with my 95. Searched a truck forum and found that it was the headlight ground where it goes to the body. It was located next to the battery on the fender. Took off the grounds, cleaned the stud and the fender, reinstalled and all is well. Jim

Battery lacks a deep charge and alt not working. Charge rate at battery shoild be 13.6v to 14.2 v charging good at 13v and not charging at 15v. not enough power to carry the headlight and engine electrical needs.
